Providers Should Consider Vitamin D for Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain.

Because vitamin D deficiency is very common and has been associated with a myriad of health problems, many Chiropractors recommend vitamin D supplements to their patients as part of a healthy lifestyle. For patients with chronic non-specific musculoskeletal pain, vitamin D supplementation is known to help reduce symptoms and has little-to-no documented side effects. A Brief Introduction.

Chiropractors are healthcare providers who primarily perform skilled manipulations (adjustments) to the spine and/or extremities. Their goal is to correct or improve alignment, reduce pain, and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. In addition to adjustments, Chiropractic care may also involve other treatments such as heat and ice, electrical stimulation, relaxation techniques, rehabilitative and general exercise, counseling about diet and other lifestyle factors, and dietary supplement recommendations. Adjustments Resolve Breastfeeding Problems.

A mother brought her four-week-old baby in for a chiropractic consultation regarding the baby’s inability to effectively latch onto her left breast when trying to breastfeed. Following an assessment, the infant received gentle adjustments to the neck and jaw to reduce muscle tightness and improve range of motion. The baby was then able to breastfeed on the left breast without issues. Further research is warranted to fully understand the implications of birth trauma and impaired function or dysfunction in breastfeeding.
